Alexander James Utilities specialises in multi-utility connections for new build developments and infrastructure projects. We manage utility connections from design through to adoption.

Because we develop, build and connect our own schemes, we approach utility infrastructure differently. Our delivery is shaped by real construction constraints, live programmes and commercial accountability.

We hold NERS and WIRS accreditation, enabling us to self-deliver regulated power and water infrastructure where appropriate, while retaining the flexibility to manage third-party providers where this offers best value for the project.

/ APPROACHING UTILITIES differently /

Most utility problems are not technical. They are ownership problems. Applications go in late, designs do not match site reality, ducts get installed wrong, permits are missing, and everyone blames everyone else when the connection slips.

Alexander James Utilities is the utilities arm of Alexander James Contracts, an established main contractor. We look at the site, the programme, the route, the permits, the undertaker requirements and the commercial position together, which means we see the gaps before they become problems. We are NERS accredited for network connections up to 11kV and WIRS accredited for water infrastructure, so we can build the regulated works ourselves rather than only arrange for someone else to. Where a third party route is better value for the scheme, we say so and we manage that instead.

This development of 8 residential units required the construction and installation of a new substation. We delivered the full electrical package, including the build and commissioning of the substation and installation of low-voltage cabling from the sub to the building. All works were completed in-house, ensuring a safe, efficient, and fully compliant power supply.
